Director, Project Finance

Our client is a privately held financial services firm with a 27 year track record of providing financing for infrastructure assets through a variety of transactions that would not generally be considered classic project financings.  Typical clients are Fortune 100 service providers in the areas of energy, renewable energy, telecommunications, water/waster-water and information technology.  Additional clients include private equity backed ventures, project-based entities and quasi-governmental entities.  The firm is looking to supplement its capabilities by adding a classic project finance offering to its clients.

Challenges:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the origination, structuring and placement of project finance transactions that supplements the firm’s financial services offer.  Additional transaction flow will be generated from transactions with affiliated entities, controlled by the firm.  A strong ability to lead a transaction and competence in financial analysis, senior debt markets, straight equity, tax equity and the interaction among the various capital layers is essential.  While this individual is expected to lead the transactions, he or she should expect significant support from the firm in the areas of financial modeling, legal, and transaction closing support.  Primarily working on renewable energy and infrastructure deals, this individual will be involved in deals from start to finish, and will have the satisfaction of seeing projects go from concept to operations.

Job Scope:

- Originate transactions that involve all the elements of a sound project financing including:  financial analysis, credit/contract review, project structuring, tax credit monetization, and equity and debt transactions.
- Supervision and value-add review of financial analysis performed by an analytical team.
- Review and comment on project documents drafted by others, particularly as the effect project economics, risks and marketability to investors.
- Prepare debt & equity offering materials/memoranda.
- Work with Investors, external consultants and internal functions to support due diligence process for transactions.
- Manage and develop relationships with banks, finance companies, energy and infrastructure funds, and institutional investors.

Experience / Education Required:

- Degree in finance, accounting, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA or other advanced degrees in quantitative fields preferred, but not required.  Since the CEO has a Masters in Public Administration, holders of the MPA will not be discriminated against.
- 5-7+ years related experience in finance with front line responsibility for a portion of the time.
- Demonstrated knowledge of structured/project financings.
- Demonstrated experience working on power, telecommunications, or infrastructure projects.
- Well-developed computer skills, including knowledge of all MS Office products.
- Ability to analyze project contracts.
- Excellent reading comprehension, presentation and communication skills.
- Superior quantitative skills.
- Solid attention to detail.
- Leadership skills in a team environment.
