The company requires a visionary, decisive, and creative professional who can evaluate the current business climate and convince the executive management team about the best course of action to identify profitable opportunities. The ideal candidate should have at least ten years of experience in commercial or public building construction. He or she must possess the interpersonal skills to establish and maintain key relationships while managing the people and processes essential to carrying out the company’s long-term strategic business development plan. Job Scope:
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan for both general construction and construction management teams.
- Prospect new clients in diverse body of building markets (commercial / industrial, educational, health care, and public works) for long-term business relationships.
- Originate project leads and negotiate and finalize contracts.
- Direct sales and marketing and project team leaders (i.e. project managers) on proper presentation methods, including new and repeat business proposals.
- Implement and direct the company’s strategic business development efforts.
- Manage the staff and operations of the sales and marketing department.
- Make in-person presentations to prospective and repeat clients.
- Oversee RFP’s.
- Direct the company’s advertising and promotional activities.
- Create collateral marketing materials.
- Maintain marketing budget.
- Performance Criteria: Profitability of projects; revenue growth; number of contracts originated, negotiated, and won; diversification of project portfolio; successful development of sales and marketing team.
Experience / Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree, construction management degree preferred.
- Ten plus years of experience in construction with a focus in commercial, industrial, school and university, institutional, and / or health care markets.
- Proven success winning projects in a competitive marketplace.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to develop long-term relationships.
