MC Dean – Vice President, Safety

Our client is one of the nation’s largest multi-disciplinary engineering and construction firms, serving a variety of clients on a global scale. Safety is an integral component in every facet of their business and they have one of the highest safety ratings in the industry. However, as the company continues to grow and improve its systems, safety is becoming more integral to their entire operation.  In order to ensure that their safety program keeps pace with the rest of their world-class operation, our client requires a well-rounded, intelligent, and technically astute Vice President of Safety to lead the development and implementation of the safety program.

Our client is in search of an executive leader – a tenured professional who is driven to be the best of the best.  This individual must be a difference maker and an influencer who can take the safety program to the next level. Exceptional candidates will understand predictive analytics, behavioral psychology and the effects of incentives on the workflow and the culture. He or she will be a conceptual thinker that can envision better policies, procedures, training methods, and statistical analyses that can be tied to improvements in day-to-day activities.  The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who can engage internal and external clients with a clear consistent message that positively impacts the entire organization and ensures the recruitment of exceptional talent.

Job Scope:

- Responsible for the overall execution and management of complex safety programs.
- Conceptualize and create company-wide safety practices that are supported by incentives integrated into the culture of the organization.
- Direct a growing team of 25 safety professionals.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a safety team.
- Interface with clients and regulators to ensure good working relationships.
- Visit project sites to validate corporate safety performance.

Experience / Education Required:

- Engineering or other technical undergraduate degree preferred.
- Fifteen or more (15+) years of safety experience in a corporate environment.
- Experience in a large project engineering and construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage comprehensive safety programs.
- Innovative thinker in the areas of predictive analytics, behavior modification, and risk assessment.
- Expertise with OSHA and all safety regulations.
- Safety related credentials or advanced education preferred.
