Opportunity:
The Chief Development Officer shall directly manage all development personnel and will report to the CEO. The CDO will serve as a leader and mentor for the development team, and as a high level corporate resource within the company, providing a roadmap and direction for growth. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of the Company’s development with projects around the country. The development leader will be the capacity to function at a strategic level and provide guidance and leadership for the development team.
The individual must be a focused, experienced team-builder who will continuously improve the development team by building and implementing strong processes and ensuring that the appropriate structure is in place to support scalable growth. The CDO will be a primary driver in the overall growth of the company. The individual who can successfully achieve exceptional results will enjoy significant career growth within the organization.
Job Scope:
- Oversee all development activity for the company.
- Provide companywide leadership and direction.
- Develop, refine, and implement the development processes, procedures, and standards to allow for scalability with future growth of the company.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout the industry.
- Manage all development staff members, including consultants and in-house personnel.
- Oversee site selection and analysis with the ability to identify and characterize site topography and wind resources.
- Oversee the evaluation of transmission alternatives.
- Oversee land leases and easements.
- Recommend and define land rights strategies.
- Oversee regulatory and environmental permitting for Federal, State and Local land use and transmission requirements.
- Track project development budgets. Manage development schedule.
- Coordinate project development plans and activities with all internal and external organizations assuring seamless and successful development.
- Proactively anticipate and resolve development related issues as necessary.
Education / Experience Required:
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree, preference for engineering or related science disciplines. MBA and/or other advanced degrees a strong plus.
- 15+ years of project management and development experience in power, with recent experience in wind power.
- Experience with PPA negotiations, turbine supply agreements, and construction.
- Proven track record of driving wind projects from site identification to financial close.
