Recruiting FAQ
Does RSMR only do retained search?
Yes, RSMR conducts searches only on a retained basis. RSMR does offer other consulting services that have different payment structures.
Why is retained search better than contingency?
The value of a retained search approach is directly proportional to the level of difficulty for a given company to connect with the right talent. Contingency agencies typically utilize a “who do we have now” approach which is great for lower level positions where there may be a larger talent pool. But for key management roles, the triple challenges of introduction, issues navigation, and lack of time will consistently make retained search the best solution. The best search firms are essentially management consulting firms that specialize in human capital.
Has RSMR ever assisted international companies establish operations in North America?
Yes, our international clients primarily have been European companies that have chosen to expand into the US market. RSMR worked closely with those firms to connect with and ultimately hire in US-based talent. Recently, we helped a Germany-based company active in renewable energy with a key leadership role located in San Diego. We’ve also partnered with Asian holding companies to connect with and hire executive leadership for their North American subsidiaries.
Has RSMR assisted US-based organizations with international searches? If so, how is that coordinated?
Yes, we’ve helped US-based companies with international hiring needs. RSMR can simultaneously work with US-based leadership while coordinating interview and hiring activity around the world. For example, we recently helped a firm with critical, specific engineering needs in Suzhou, China.
What makes RSMR unique when compared to other mid-management search firms?
We have a better mousetrap. Our process is much more rigorous and better staffed than our competitors who typically only use one or two consultants per search. RSMR staffs all searches with at least four professional consultants. We’ve found over the years that many search firms are not able to execute assignments within quoted timelines, largely due to lack of manpower. We’ve solved this problem by adding more resources to each search. Our database is outstanding and is the quantifiable result of researching in markets for well over a decade. In some cases, our consultants have twenty years of industry knowledge and networks.
How long is your typical search?
On average, our goal is to identify and place a candidate within 12 weeks of retention.
What is your success rate?
Our success rate is typically 100% year after year. In some cases we have had searches cancelled, typically due to a client restructuring. In a recent example, a search was cancelled because one of our clients was acquired, and the company filled the position internally.
Does RSMR do executive search?
No, RSMR focuses on mid-management level searches. For your executive level search needs please visit TRANSEARCH International.
