Our client is a global environmental consulting firm that provides a comprehensive range of commercially oriented services to businesses in a number of industries. It is part of a European based company that provides engineering, construction, project management and business consulting services worldwide. They are established in 18 countries with over 600 employees and have a rapidly growing base of global clients and projects worldwide.
This individual will be tasked with the responsibility of growing their Northeast region. The immediate task will be to establish a regional headquarters somewhere between Massachusetts and Virginia selected for its proximity to potential clientele, a talented pool of consultants, and ease of travel both domestic and international. From this point on the focus will be to identify market opportunities, add staff, and grow the business. This individual will be able to leverage some existing infrastructure from a number of sister companies keeping overhead down, locations flexible, and rapid diversification plausible. The business has sustained 15%+ profitable organic growth per year since its inception. Company management is looking to grow and diversify its services and expand its geographical reach, which will help to solidify its global reach.
Challenges:
This is an exciting time for our client’s North American operation. In the U.S. the company has a mandate to become one of the top three leading providers in each of their dedicated market areas. This mandate calls for significant, controlled growth in key locations across the U.S., a goal that will be accomplished through a combination of organic growth and acquisition. However, pulling together a strategic plan that leverages the current expertise of the company and the potential of an infant operation in the Northeast will be a real challenge. This individual will need to understand where opportunities exist and how to capitalize on them. This person will need to be able to evaluate other potential acquisitions and make good decisions about the viability of a specific organization joining the team. Our client is willing to sacrifice some higher level experience for hands-on business leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
Opportunities:
This is a higher level opportunity with significant resources to leverage, so that any qualified professional with the right mixture of entrepreneurial spirit, intelligence, and ambition should be able to grow their whole career. It is a situation that offers a global platform to build a business in one of the wealthiest and most exciting locations in the world. This person will help shape the direction of the company’s U.S. and global business, bringing the expertise and knowledge of our client to the Northeastern market.
