Regional Manager

New England

A well-established provider of wire wound pre-stressed concrete tanks is looking to invest in a key business leader to drive its sales in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  This highly visible sales and operations leader will have responsibility for direct sales, client development and management, as well as some minor personnel management, project execution, and follow-up activities.  Our client provides services to municipalities, industrial companies, or any organization that has a need for a water containment system.  The firm enjoys a strong reputation for excellence within their business segment and would like to capitalize more effectively on their preeminence and reputation for quality work.  In addition to the primary responsibility of winning profitable project work, the Regional Manager will make sure that the client is kept informed on the status of project execution, thus developing a stronger relationship with the client and ensuring good referrals and repeat business.

Challenges:

Even with a strong reputation, good connections, and an outstanding team of professionals surrounding this person, the wining candidate will need to work hard to ensure that the benefits of this type of water tank are thoroughly understood by owners, engineers, architects, city planners, developers and even the general public (who could be participants in the selection process).  Because this is a high-end, long term, value driven proposition, getting our client’s product specified into the project plans at an early stage in project conception and development is the most crucial element in ensuring that this product is selected.  Therefore, this individual must be very active in seeking out projects and ensuring that the groundwork is properly laid for success.  Additionally, this individual will be in a very independent environment and thus need to manage both time and a marketing budget efficiently.  This is a hands-on leadership role that will require vision, focus, and hard work, but one that offers a superb career opportunity and substantial financial rewards within a high-energy, fast-paced company that has the vision, credibility and best-in-class resources to compete long-term.

Opportunity:

When we begin to discuss our client’s opportunity, we have to begin with the company itself.  It is simply a first-class operation with top-of-the-line resources, exceptional back office support, and individuals in key places that make all the difference in this business.  The owners are grounded in the business, with a history and a passion for success.  They listen to logical arguments and make the best decisions in the interest of building the business.  Obviously, there are good, better and best project opportunities, but they will also consider the long term situation, the local community, and the best strategy for helping this individual achieve personal goals.  They work off a balanced scorecard and want to see their organization succeed at all levels.

Job Scope:

- The primary responsibility of the Regional Manager is to deliver tank projects that provide the company an opportunity to secure and execute work and establish a pattern of revenue growth within the manager’s territory.
- Provide leadership, direction, and vision for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
- Promote the benefits of the AWWA D110 Type III specification for wire-wound concrete tanks.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with owners and consulting engineers throughout the region.
- Manage regional office and sales assistant.
- Attend local and national sales meetings and conventions.

Experience / Education Required:

- BS in Engineering or other technical field, MS or MBA preferred.
- Proven track record for successful revenue growth in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- Excellent oral communication, writing and presentation skills.
- 5+ years of experience.
