Since the 1980’s, our client has planned, engineered, financed, and constructed over 20 private power projects. The firm’s expertise covers the spectrum of complex issues that are critical to developing, owning, and operating a clean power project. Our client’s energy specialists work closely with local firms, government and utility representatives, international lenders, investors and local private power interests as they face the challenge of establishing a framework for successful renewable energy project.
Job Scope:
- Pro-actively structure and manage project finance transactions in the independent hydropower industry.
- Manage several team members responsible for origination and underwriting.
- Coordinate deal closings with senior personnel, internal and external counsel, and other corporate staff as needed (finance, tax, and accounting). Assistance to be provided from other team members.
- Coordinate equity sell-down efforts as needed.
Experience / Education Required:
- 10+ years of practical project financing experience. Power, oil/gas, and syndication experience a plus.
- Leadership in the management of multiple project accounts and people.
- Strong underwriting/credit skills.
- Ability to anticipate problems/issues, measure their magnitude and find opportunities to improve the credit and/or sell off the account.
- Maintain a “big picture” view of the account through keeping current on industry dynamics and credit quality of all project participants.
- Fully understand and effectively communicate all issues of a transaction.
- Strong closing abilities, the ability to lead a documentation team (including external counsel) in an independent, timely manner while ensuring internal senior management is updated on all manor issues, seeking management advice and counsel as necessary.
- Strong team player with ability to develop consensus within the corporation.
