Challenges:

The Vice President of Service will report directly to the CEO of the North American business unit.  The individual will oversee the full scope of service and maintenance performance across all designated wind farms in North America.  Responsibilities shall include all customer interactions, service management features, sales and project management support, and interface with the international parent company.  This individual will establish and maintain relationships with wind project developers, power project owners, local utilities, regulatory agencies, consulting firms, component manufacturers, transportation and logistics firms, city and state level government representatives, and other necessary contacts.

The critical attributes of this service leader will be the capacity to build a multi-faceted department and drive service and performance issues to resolution.  The individual must establish credibility with the international parent company and enhance the ongoing communication in an effort to equip the North American business unit for independent operation.  This person must be an energetic self-starter who can thrive in autonomous settings, who understands the value of results-driven performance.  The Vice President of Service has the chance to impact and contribute significantly to the overall growth of the company in the North American market.  The individual who can successfully achieve exceptional results will enjoy significant career growth opportunities within the organization.

Job Scope:

- Direct an expanding, multi-disciplinary staff that includes regional service managers, site managers, field engineers, service technicians, a training manager, a warehouse manager, analysts, technical support resources, and other administrative personnel.
- Oversight of negotiations for new service contracts.
- Establish mutually beneficial communication with all clients and foster a cooperative relationship between customer and company.
- Lead all customer reporting procedures and deliverables.
- Organize and manage all regular service tasks, trouble-shooting requirements, and cooperative actions between subcontractors and service providers.
- Support all cross-matrix functions within the sales department and project management group.
- Report on reliability, availability, and production data to customers and the international parent company.
- Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators for Service Organization.
- Comply with all budget and financial reporting requirements and report to the international parent company on the financial state of the North American service organization.
- Disseminate information from the international parent company to all employees of the North American service organization.

Education / Experience Required:

- Bachelor’s degree required.  Mechanical or electrical engineering degree strongly preferred.  MBA and/or other advanced degrees a plus.
- Ten plus (10+) years of service and maintenance experience in the wind energy sector.
- Experience managing a wind service organization required.  Some experience in wind turbine sales and/or service contracts strongly preferred.
- Background in both technical and commercial disciplines required.
- Proven ability to effectively interface with craft guilds and trade associations.
- German and/or French language skills preferred.
